Riverkeeper organizes the largest Shoreline Cleanups in Buffalo Niagara with over 1,500 volunteers at 40 waterfront sites throughout Western New York. This event re-connects people to their greatest natural asset, fresh water. This direct form of engagement is the foundation of our transition from a rust belt city to one with a thriving Great Lakes Blue Economy. Thank you for joining the effort to protect and revitalize our waterfront by cleaning up trash that is harmful for fish and wildlife!
Our Fall Shoreline Sweep on Saturday, September 20, 2014 engaged 683 volunteers at 26 sites and collected over 3 tons of trash out of our waterways! Riverkeeper participated in the NYS Beach Cleanup alongside the American Littoral Society and Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup with recycling services donated by Triad Recycling and funding from HSBC’s Water Programme. Our next Shoreline Sweep will be Saturday, April 25, 2015. Check back in February 2015 for more information on how to get involved and register!
